College Football ATS week 5

Last week: 5/5

Season: 15.5/21

Georgia Southern -18.5 vs Appalachian State....yes

I have to credit ESPN for this one, they called it on their pickcenter.

TCU -32 @SMU

SMU came through for me last week, not covering against Texas A&M. SMU ranks at the bottom for nearly every obscure offensive statistic that is measured. TCU's defense is great yet again, even though they have not played anybody yet and SMU is another nobody they should hold to single digits. Maybe even a defensive TD or two. TCU in a landslide, despite the rivalry.

TCU 41-SMU 6

Ole Miss -21 vs Memphis

Don't buy the media's hype of a trap game for Ole Miss. They have had a week off and got to watch Memphis's near upset of UCLA. Despite Alabama coming to town next week, Ole Miss will not overlook this potential giant killer. Expect one of the nation's top pass defenses to come through and hold down the fort.

Ole Miss 48-Memphis 17

Duke +6.5 @ Miami

Duke is covering the spread, Miami is not. Duke is underrated again by the media. Miami is, as always, overrated by the media. Duke wants it more. The culture is changing. I expect Duke to win.

Duke 30-Miami 28

Baylor -22 @ Iowa St.

I don't know much about Iowa State, but I know they are not talented enough to keep Baylor from scoring 50.

Baylor 56-Iowa St. 21

College Football ATS Week 4

ATS 2014: 10.5/16

Week 4 Picks:
Kansas St +7.5 vs Auburn.... Yes

I knew it. Auburn would need some of that luck of the plains to get out of Manhattan alive on a Thursday night. Auburn is not a better team than last year. Kansas State is.

Clemson +14.5 at Florida State

Jameis Winston being suspended just made this pick a little bit easier. Although (according to Phil Steele) the 'Noles have the most talented team in the FBS, they are not playing like it. Clemson has something to prove and they will keep it closer than two touchdowns. Both teams have had an off week but I'm betting Clemson's was more productive than Florida State's.

Predicted score: FSU 28 Clemson 17

Texas A&M -33.5 at SMU

SMU is distracted. They are 0-3 against the spread so far this year. Their defense is terrible. The home field advantage does nothing but lower the amount of points that A&M is favored by, thereby making this an easier pick. Kenny Hill could throw for 400 if he isn't pulled too early.

Predicted score: Texas A&M 52 SMU 10

Wisconsin -27 vs Bowling Green

Wisconsin had a bye week after an easy win after the LSU embarrassment. They are out to prove something and if they're rally in the second half versus Western Illinois shows us anything, it is that they have officially gotten over LSU and are focused ahead. Bowling Green maybe upset Indiana last week, but look for the letdown game this week against a focused, rested Badgers team that has no reason to look ahead or over them.

Predicted score: Wisconsin 48 Bowling Green 14

Michigan State -45.5 vs. Eastern Michigan

Okay, okay. That's a huge spread. However, Michigan State can score. Look at the first half versus Oregon and against Jacksonville State. They are well rested, and like Wisconsin had the week off to sit and think about losing a big game despite being ahead early. The team will be ready to reclaim some sort of national respect. A week of rest, refocus, and a determined team that is sitting just outside of the top ten should result in a huge blowout victory. In addition Eastern Michigan is pretty bad this year.

Predicted score: Michigan State 66 EMU 14

Other predictions:

- Another NFL scandal outside of Hardy, Rice, Peterson, Dwyer, and Goodell comes to light.

- An Ole Miss defensive player gets hurt or gets in trouble during practice.

- Alabama fails to impress against Florida.

- The early Heisman favorite will remain to be Marcus Mariota for several weeks.

- A top 25 team will lose to an unranked team. My pick? Nebraska to Miami
